Immerging Lever Fabergé marketeers into Dutch innovative youth culture. During two days, marketeers from the Lever Fabergé innovation centre in London were told and taught about inspirational Dutch youngster initiatives, trends and phenomena.
Sports: Thimon de Jong, journalist for board-sports magazine Reload, avid BMX-er.
Music: Bibi Fadlalla, producer for Submarine, university graduate on R'n'B music vs. young Dutch females.
Fashion: Ruby Savage, junior trendscout for Levi's®.
Communication: Jan Hoek, journalist for youngster website www.spunk.nl
They each held a lecture, interruped by live demo's like scratch wizzard Sjam, DIY fashion collective Dashiki, computer graphic artist 19hrs -who also did the graphic design for the whole project including a 'zine' afterwards- and Flatland team Soulcycle. Breakdancer and filmmaker Philip 'Soultrotter' Ivanov made groovy video clips introducing all the professors and one capturing this energetic workshop.
Next to the theory bit, each professor took a group of marketeers for a 'raw experience', a city trip where they met one-on-one with local kids themselves at relevant locations... till the wee hours.
On a second day we organized 'speed-dating' sessions with slightly older experts in the field of progressive youth culture (owner of cool streetwear concept store 90SQM, fashion editor of Elle Girl, a web journalist and Spunk-editor, someone from an independent record company etc.) The weekend ended with an intensive learnings-workshop for both the marketeers and youth-professors and all went home inspired and excited. Actually some professors have already been recruited for product related thinktanks in London. We look forward to see some cool Lever Faberge action on the shelves soon.
